"Warrior Shield"
This is the latest to come off the easel, I am really enjoying working on these smaller pieces they are giving me lots of ideas for some larger paintings that I will work on this summer. In the original photo reference there was actually five figures, but I focused on the most interesting one.

"Dressed in Red" - SOLD

I am still amazed at where my inspiration comes from for my paintings. For example this little jewel evolved from two sources, the first is from a photo a very small percentage, I just happened to like the pose and it is mostly from memory. The colors came from a dress a visitor was wearing yesterday in the studio. What can I say, the artist mind works in mysterious ways.

"Caballo Pinto" (sold)
This week I am working on some small paintings that are headed to a gallery that just recently started carrying my work, which is located in Wimberley, Texas. They seem to be doing well with my art they sold all of the last group of paintings, which always makes me feel good to know people are enjoying my work. So they have requested some more paintings and as I complete these paintings I will try my best to post some of them over the next few weeks to give everyone an opportunity to view them before they leave the studio. If you are interested in purchasing any of them email or call the studio so that we can be sure to hold it for you.

"Light Feather" - SOLD

As you can probably tell I am into painting what I call my southwest figures. I traveled a lot into northern New Mexico this past year and have lots of photo reference that I am working from. But as you can tell I take lots of liberties in using my “Artistic License”. I enjoy painting these figures, because the approach I take is a blend of representational and abstract I also get to work with lots of vivid and wild color combinations, which I find real enjoyable exploring with.

"Blue Day" - SOLD

Hello sorry for the long absence I have plenty of excuses, but rather then list them all I will just say that I have been very busy. I feel real good about posting again and look forward to being more diligent about posting at least once a week this year.
There is so much that has happen in the studio that it would be impossible to get you caught up, so for now I will post one of the pieces that I painted this week. I am still going back and forth with oils and acrylics, love working with both mediums, this one is in acrylic.

"Shell Lady" - SOLD

This is one of the paintings in which I start with a dark background technique, using a variety of dark hues. This image is from the series of photo reference that we took in our travels into New Mexico. This Shell Lady as I call her, was dancing, but it was more of a gentle hop, but she looked beautiful and graceful in how she did it.
I am going to have to take some time and organize my photos to get some order in this series, just never enough time

"Acoma Dancer" - SOLD

In this painting I worked from a photographic reference, it is an Acoma Dancer. And of course I applied my artistic license and plucked him out of the original scene, which had lots of other people in it and was in an arena. The picture is from a trip we took up to Taos from a couple of summers ago. I love the southwest and western themes and I spend a lot of time out in New Mexico and many of my paintings will reflect that.
