"Primera Vez"

It got a bit hectic a couple of weeks ago as we were preparing for our Seattle trip and I was not able to post this piece that I had just completed for a local exhibit, so I am posting it now. This is an acrylic on stretched canvas, email if you have any questions.

"Indio Vato"

This is a close-up from one of the figures in the series that I am working on of Southwest images. In order to simplify the facial features and be more suggestive of all detail, I found I had to practice painting a larger version of the face.

"New Outfit" - available

This is the latest painting to come off the easel. I am working on some 12 x 12 sizes, having fun exploring with composition and colors. In this one I was exploring with a little bit of reverse fields.

Señorita #1

I keep going back to the women that I love to draw and paint and in my small works I have started the Señorita Series. I am enjoying these as I explore using various hues for the ground and a painting technique that I call the Pryamid Painting technique. A technique that myself and another artist friend of mine created a while back one night that we had a hot job that needed to be completed over a weekend.

"Warrior Shield"

This is the latest to come off the easel, I am really enjoying working on these smaller pieces they are giving me lots of ideas for some larger paintings that I will work on this summer. In the original photo reference there was actually five figures, but I focused on the most interesting one.

"Dressed in Red" - SOLD

I am still amazed at where my inspiration comes from for my paintings. For example this little jewel evolved from two sources, the first is from a photo a very small percentage, I just happened to like the pose and it is mostly from memory. The colors came from a dress a visitor was wearing yesterday in the studio. What can I say, the artist mind works in mysterious ways.

"Caballo Pinto" (sold)

This week I am working on some small paintings that are headed to a gallery that just recently started carrying my work, which is located in Wimberley, Texas. They seem to be doing well with my art they sold all of the last group of paintings, which always makes me feel good to know people are enjoying my work. So they have requested some more paintings and as I complete these paintings I will try my best to post some of them over the next few weeks to give everyone an opportunity to view them before they leave the studio. If you are interested in purchasing any of them email or call the studio so that we can be sure to hold it for you.

"Light Feather" - SOLD

As you can probably tell I am into painting what I call my southwest figures. I traveled a lot into northern New Mexico this past year and have lots of photo reference that I am working from. But as you can tell I take lots of liberties in using my “Artistic License”. I enjoy painting these figures, because the approach I take is a blend of representational and abstract I also get to work with lots of vivid and wild color combinations, which I find real enjoyable exploring with.

"Blue Day" - SOLD

Hello sorry for the long absence I have plenty of excuses, but rather then list them all I will just say that I have been very busy. I feel real good about posting again and look forward to being more diligent about posting at least once a week this year.
There is so much that has happen in the studio that it would be impossible to get you caught up, so for now I will post one of the pieces that I painted this week. I am still going back and forth with oils and acrylics, love working with both mediums, this one is in acrylic.
