"Shell Lady" - SOLD

This is one of the paintings in which I start with a dark background technique, using a variety of dark hues. This image is from the series of photo reference that we took in our travels into New Mexico. This Shell Lady as I call her, was dancing, but it was more of a gentle hop, but she looked beautiful and graceful in how she did it.
I am going to have to take some time and organize my photos to get some order in this series, just never enough time

"Acoma Dancer" - SOLD

In this painting I worked from a photographic reference, it is an Acoma Dancer. And of course I applied my artistic license and plucked him out of the original scene, which had lots of other people in it and was in an arena. The picture is from a trip we took up to Taos from a couple of summers ago. I love the southwest and western themes and I spend a lot of time out in New Mexico and many of my paintings will reflect that.

"Yellow Sun" SOLD

The title Yellow Sun, doesn't necessary go with today's weather, it is cloudy, rainy and cool. I was working off the color wheel and decided on these colors and then the painting just evolved. But it really is a nice day to work in the studio, no beautiful weather to temp me to go for a jog or go do something outside.

"Angel" SOLD

This painting of an angel watching over a woman is part imagination and part recollection of a post card that my mom use to keep on the dresser as part of a shrine, that was made up of all sorts of small religious objects. This little corner of her dresser was the special place in the house where she would come to say her prayers.
