First Open Studio
Here are a couple of photos from the Open Studio event that we had this past weekend; it was a great time had by all. I enjoyed visiting with everyone and showing visitors my studio and discussing my art and creative process.
I am looking forward to the next Open Studio, probably be around the same time next year. However there was talk about doing another Open Studio towards the end of the year, we'll see.
But starting tomorrow I will need to look at the immediate future, which means preparing for my show in Ruidoso, New Mexico, which will be happening at the end of June.
Thanks to all that attended, I truly appreciate everyone's interest and support in my art.

West Austin Studio Tour
WEST Austin Studio Tour
In case you haven't heard the wonderful people that put the EAST Austin Studio Tour have decided to do the same for us artist on the West side of Austin and I am extremely excited. First because I am looking forward to opening up my studio to the public and secondly because of the great job Big Medium is doing in putting this studio tour together they are real pros.
I am on my way to teach my last class of the semester, so I will have a bit more time for my work so look for some new postings of my latest work.
By the way if you haven't heard the studio tour is May 19 and 20th, 11a to 6p and I am number # 026 on the tour map.

"Indio Vato"

This is a close-up from one of the figures in the series that I am working on of Southwest images. In order to simplify the facial features and be more suggestive of all detail, I found I had to practice painting a larger version of the face.

"New Outfit" - available

This is the latest painting to come off the easel. I am working on some 12 x 12 sizes, having fun exploring with composition and colors. In this one I was exploring with a little bit of reverse fields.

Work Station
I am posting these photos of my new work table that I built this past week, because in my final lecture for the semester I happen to mention that I had built this cool work table and in order to show my students what I was talking about I found it easier to just post some photos on my blog. It really is more a workstation then a table; it's an all in one workstation that's what it is. Pretty cool actually, I saw some thing like this at an art store, but mine has a lot of other special areas that work specifically for my needs. Believe it or not I drew the design and built it in two days.
So enough carpentry work; back to painting.
